It was the time of year where everyone gets a little Fast and a little Furious. Thats right, it was time for the newest installment of the Fast and Furious saga and that was The Fate of the Furious. However this year, there was a little more to celebrate. With a drive for the late superstar Paul Walker, fairly named, Drive4Paul. An event to celebrate the life of the great Fast and Furious actor and raise some much needed funds for Paul's Charity Reach Out World Wide. A organisation created off the back of the devastating earthquake in Haiti in early 2010 where Paul reached out to a few of his friends to create Reach Out World Wide. However with the passing of Paul his brother Cody has taken charge with the fundraising efforts of the organisation in honor and memory of his older brother Paul. Thus Cody took to the land down under during the opening week of the new Fast and Furious movie to reach out to fans and raise money for his charity.

This was a full day event with people arriving as early as 7.30 in order to get their spot in the contest. So like any good contestant I arrived at 7.30 sharp to get my little stock Skyline into the best position for the judging. However after that we decided to head up to the entrance and see what sort of competition I was going to be up against. And boy oh boy was there some competition. Evos, WRXs, mad GTRs it was the top end of the Japanese spectrum with thousands upon thousands of dollars sitting in this underground car-park. And man was my car low on the $ list. But in the end, winning isn't everything and seeing these cars was just as good as winning. Seeing the amazing amount of time, effort and money spend on the stuff both under the hood and outside the car. However it was definitely one of the best things I've done and plus who doesn't love meeting someone famous?
Anyhow as any perfect day there was always a few things that let it down. Like waiting for Cody to arrive, thinking he would rock up in some awesome Lamborghini or Ferrari or even an Evo 10 or GTR but no. As far as I know he magician himself into the cinema before casually walking out and killing everyone's hopes and dreams of seeing him drive in a GTR. But at least he made it there. And one of the main reasons he was there was to judge the cars. In total there were 5 categories that people could enter their cars in. Street, Turbo, Naturally Aspirated, Shown'N'Shine and Classic. The winners of each category were definitely worthy of their win as their cars looked amazing. However the real win for me was getting my photo taken with both Cody and my car which was a real nice way to end the day.
So make sure to get onto Reach Out World Wide and help Cody raise much needed funds for disaster relief. Keep going, what Paul worked so hard to create.
